I am replacing the stator on a Kawasaki mule for a friend of mine in a few days and I was wondering if there is anything specific I need to look for or pay attention to. I have never worked on a utv before but have replaced other stators. The mule is somewhere between a 1999 - 2003 I'm not sure. With ohm/continuity setting-look for open circuit (the motor windings will show a resistive value). Also, apply 12v across the wires to get the fan to spin. You may also see if there are fuses to the fan.

I changed all the filters, drained the gas tank, put new fuel, oil, and it started fine. Now after about 30 hours it starts and stalls out when trying to use it.2510 Mule Engine Problems. I recently rebuilt the top end: new heads and valves. I am getting a small amount of oil on the spark plugs and white smoke from the exhaust when above idle. It also is getting hot. Yes there is an adjustment, - if it is "self adjusting", - you will have to pull the brake drum off and look at it, - you just turn the adjuster back about 1 or 2 turns, and then see how it "spins -- (after you have re-installed brake drum), and applied brakes once to "center the brake shoes"!
